About AfriKleen

An independent business built around practical delivery.

AfriKleen is an African-focused water and wastewater solutions business beginning in Malawi. Its purpose is to make reliable decentralised treatment more accessible while building the local skills, service capability and commercial foundation needed for long-term delivery.

Local Treatment. Lasting Impact.

Our purpose

Keep the knowledge, jobs and support closer to the communities served.

Shipping a treatment plant is not the same as establishing sustainable sanitation infrastructure.

AfriKleen’s model combines Australian-designed treatment technology with local leadership, installation, training and servicing. Local assembly and manufacturing will be developed only when demand, capability, quality control and economics justify it.

Founding team

Different strengths. One delivery team.

The founding team combines wastewater knowledge, local Malawi relationships, operations, logistics and business-building experience.

How we intend to grow

Prove the model before scaling it.

AfriKleen’s staged pathway keeps early capital and operational risk controlled while building evidence, relationships and local capability.

Phase 01

Demonstration & validation

Select suitable sites, establish baselines, commission correctly, train local operators and document independently supported performance.

Phase 02

Local service base

Establish reliable installation, maintenance, spare-parts and customer-support capability in Malawi.

Phase 03

Assembly & fabrication

Move suitable components and assembly closer to the market when demand, capability and quality systems support it.

Phase 04

Regional growth

Consider neighbouring markets only after the Malawi model can be supported sustainably without compromising standards or customer service.

Operating principles

Practical before impressive

Recommend what can be installed, operated, maintained and afforded—not what simply looks strongest in a proposal.

Local capability by design

Training and knowledge transfer are core project deliverables, not optional extras at the end.

Honest performance

State assumptions, limits and responsibilities clearly. Verify results rather than relying on broad claims.

Long-term relationships

Build trust with customers, staff, communities, regulators, suppliers and technology partners.

Built through partnership

The right partners can help turn a good pilot into lasting infrastructure.

AfriKleen welcomes conversations with government, development organisations, investors, suppliers and delivery partners who share a practical, long-term view.
